2008 raffle results Thank you all for your participation!
Hello Crawlers,
I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and got to explore and discover new restaurants and coffee shops in the Central City this last Saturday at the 2nd Annual Edible Crawl for a Cure. I don't have final numbers yet, but you all helped us raise nearly $20,000 net for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (last year raised over $11,000 net).
Brian and I are looking forward to hearing your feedback about the event as we seek to continually evolve and improve the Crawl. We'll send out a short questionnaire soon and also wanted to invite you to Wine Down Wednesday tomorrow at Mason's from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. We'll be lounging, networking and sipping on $5 glasses of Fitzpatrick Winery wine (the featured winery this week).
Also, hold on to those raffle tickets!! The winners of the great prizes that midtowngrid.com generously donated will be posted on their website tomorrow, Wednesday the 21st.
We'll be in touch soon and thank you for your participation and support!!

Edible Crawl for a Cure: Cystic Fibrosis & Midtown Grid

Travel downtown on Saturday, October 20 and one would see over 700 people walking around in groups of five to thirty people, bag in one hand, drinking cup in another. The official Edible Crawl For a Cure is to benefit Cystic Fibrosis, a benefit to help people with a crippling disease. Midtown Grid was there to back the event.
The event was a success since only 500 people were expected to sign up and over 700 were on the crawl. The benefit brought in thousands of dollars for a cause. Crawlers walked Downtown Sacramento or what people now refer to as "The Grid," visiting several locations.
Each Team was headed by an "Ale Captain." UBO Magazine was one of the teams with roughly 13 people tagging along. Three of which added on 'mid-crawl' and one of which ran ahead to another group. Obviously the crawl was bringing in in people due to the publicity on the streets and everyone was definitely excited about the walk ahead.
Butch N Nellies, Tamaya's Sushi & Grill, Cervanets, Stone Grill & Bar, Rubicon Brewing Co., L Wine Lounge & Urban Kitchen, Old Soul Co., 58 Degrees & Holding, Zocalo, Bean Trees, 4th Street Grille, Three Monkeys Restaurant, Crepe Cafe, Temple Fine Coffee & Tea, Parlare Euro Lounge, Brew It Up! and Clarion Mansion Inn were all spots to stop at for a food sample, appetizers and a speciality drink, be it beer, wine, smoothie, tequila shots, mixed shooters or espresso shots. Capitol Cupcakes and Revolution Wines also took part in the event as they had their treats and drinks at Old Soul Co., the starting point for people who needed to purchase their $25 donation for Cystic Fibrosis to attend the walk-able adventure.
The event was a success and will now be a seasonal treat for Sacramentians. Different benefits will take part in this event and Sacramento now was a new way to network and get to know their local neighbors and independent businesses.
Best Pub and Only Eats Crawl in Sacramento for a Cure!
I recently registered as a Crawl Captain for an event called the Edible Crawl for a Cure: a gourmet food and pub crawl through midtown and downtown Sacramento. Last year I went with a great team, artist Susan, photographers Rebecca Knoblaugh and James Morales, tattoo artist Johnny Hiero, Kris [Owner/Curator for Shiney Nickle Art Gallery], and a few more that added along the way. We had a great time and it was fun to network with people while getting our drink on at pubs, wineries and cafes as well as eating gourmet treats!
This is a fun event where we'll be eating and drinking our way across the grid that benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. You can find out more information about the event and see pictures from the event last year at midtowngrid.com. Then get your tickets online at Brown Paper Tickets. A few steps into the process of purchasing your tickets there will be several questions asking you to choose your Crawl Captain/team, so make sure to click on "Aaris Schroeder (UBO Magazine)" which is at the third question, answer # 11 . As we get a little closer to the event date our team will be assigned a starting location, and I will let you know where that is (but it will be either in midtown or downtown). Let me know if you have any questions, and hope you'll be able to join me for this very fun event!
Invite who you want -- the more we have on the team, the better!! We wanna see how many can bring bikes too...if we have a split bikers and walkers we can split down the middle when we start.
Loved it!!!
My husband and I did this last year and we had so much fun! We already have the tickets for this year and we can't wait to go. Not only are you helping out a good organization but you get to have tons of fun doing it. We can wait!
