Up-Close with Melanie
Dear Midtowners, Downtowners, and Other Gridsters,
Let's make it happen today! This election is the most important in our lives. No matter what your predilection, take action and vote. It's a simple message to exercise your democratic muscles. Let's energize this republic.
After you vote, celebrate by attending Midtown Monthly's Election Party at The Press Club tonight.
Or...go to a locally owned coffee house, introduce yourself to the owner, and tell him or her how you plan to Shop and Eat Locally to sustain the economy while committing 10 hours/month to local causes. As my great friend at Pangaea Cafe says, when in doubt, Go Small!
Once this election ends tonight, we must do the real work of democracy and ethical capitalism: meet 10 neighbors and inspire one another to do something extraordinary that affects 100 neighbors' quality of life.
This is a great city, a fantastic and ever-evolving Central City, and a dynamic region that can be a bellwether to the nation about what it takes to propel a bright future: hard work, dedication, empathy, and creativity.
Attract the creative class. Invest in your neighbors, neighborhoods, and small business districts.
Imagine Nation!
With Love,
The Guru
