Best Oysters in Town- NISHIKI

Fresh Oysters and their Magic

Here I am, sitting in Nishiki and as a surprise I have 3 Oysters. They are prepared for me, with sriracha, green onions, lemon juice and ponzu. Amazing! I am so surprised. I haven't had Oysters this good since I was in New Orleans!

A real experience! If I hadn't already had the Corvette Roll, I would order 6 more Oysters..

Nishiki's is the best in town for Sushi, as well as Oysters. Go by and have 6 for youself. You wont be dissapointed. I promise.

I was absolutely titillated by the high-resolution photos of various seeds I saw on the BBC web site. Here is the link to the slide show that got me interested in the Millennium Seed Bank: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7591649.stm

This is a great salad to bring to potlucks or have for dinner on a hot Sacramento summer evening when you don’t want to eat a big hot meal.  It’s got lots of cilantro and cumin, so if you don’t like that, it’s not the salad for you. Prep time from start to finish: @ 20min.

1.Cut up half a  jicama into small pieces, along with 2 salary sticks

2.Pour  a can of black beans, half a can of corn, the jicama and s

Cucumber and Tomato salad for an afternoon snack
Got the 3:00 hungries? Try packing this salad for work to snack on instead of heading to the chip machine.

Well its August here in Sacramento and cucmbers and tomatoes are in full season. This afternoon I put together a batch of one of my summertime favorites instead of snacking on crackers or chips. There are endless variations on this recipe, experiment with what you have in your kitchen!

Cucumber Tomato Salad

1 cucumber, seeded and diced
1 c cherry tomatoes, halved
2 tsp balsamic
1 T olive oil
1/2 tsp kosher or sea salt
fresh cracked black pepper
